Jean-Marie Bockel (born 22 June 1950) is a French politician who has been serving as PresidentEmmanuel Macron's Personal Envoy for Africa since 2024.[1]
Earlier in his political career, Bockel served in several government positions, including as State Secretary of Justice (2009–2010), Secretary of State for Defence and Veterans (2008–2009) and Secretary of State for Cooperation and La Francophonie (2007–2008) in the government of Prime MinisterFrançois Fillon as well as Minister for Commerce (1984–1986) in the government of Prime MinisterLaurent Fabius.
